Hardback. Condición: Fine. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Fine. Fourth Impression. SOLDIERS OF MISFORTUNE The Story of Otho Belleme. P. C. Wren. John Murray publishers, London. 1957 Fourth Impression 432pp Hardback P. C. Wren (1875 - 1941) is probably best remembered as the author of the much filmed ?Beau Geste? (1924) a romantic adventure of life in the French Foreign Legion but this was not his first book, he had already written sixteen novels and non fiction books. He went on to write many more, over fifty in fact. Wren could construct a first class plot and had a sure touch with dialogue that was salty and humorous. He could handle quick action and create memorable characters. Many of these books are now sadly out of print so second hand copies are now very collected. I am selling over thirty P C Wren novels and short story collections on this site. This book originally published in 1929 tells the story of Otho Belleme an adventurous, generous, quixotic youth of unusual parentage, unusual upbringing and unusual character in a story of vivid pace, humour and terrific incident he learns the lesson that if the way of the transgressor is hard, the way of the chivalrous and the romantic is apt to be harder. This copy is in FINE, bright and tight condition with no marks or inscriptions. The unclipped dustwrapper is also in FINE although there are one or nibbles to the top of the spine. The dustwrapper has now been covered in removable mylar clear protective film. Ref N6.
