First Edition. First Edition. SIGNED by the author on the title page. Laid in is a typed letter signed by the author, on stationery from Skidmore College where Millauser teaches English, addressed to Oscar-winning director, actor, and producer Tony Bill. The letter (dated Nov. 4, 1995) expresses Millhauser's thanks for the letter he received from Tony Bill regarding his novel, "Edwin Mullhouse," with some insight into the author's relationship with Hollywood. Millhauser won the 1997 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction for his novel, "Martin Dressler: The Tale of an American Dreamer." From the collection of Tony Bill, whose credits include "The Sting" (1973, producer), "Soldier in the Rain" (1963, actor), "Shampoo" (1975, actor), and "Five Corners" (1987, director-producer). Light foxing to the top page edges, else Near Fine and unread in a Near Fine dust jacket. Type letter folded twice, Near Fine.

Uncorrected proofs of the first editions of the first eleven books by Pulitzer Prize-winning author Steven Millhauser. Octavo, 11 volumes, original wrappers as issued. Each are in near fine to fine condition. Each volume is signed by Steven Millhauser. An uncommon set of proofs. Millhauser is best known for his 1972 debut novel, Edwin Mullhouse. The novel is seemingly autobiographical, and it's about a precocious writer whose career ends abruptly with his death at age eleven. Millhauser followed with a second novel, Portrait of a Romantic (1977) and his first collection of short story In the Penny Arcade (1986). In 1997 he won the Pulitzer Prize for fiction for Martin Dressler.
