Hardcover. Condición: Fine. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Fine. 1st Edition. Fine condition textured black boards with gold spine lettering contained in a fine condition non price-clipped color illustrated dust jacket. Includes Dedication; Preliminary Page Quote by WIlliam Wordsworth; Author's Note; and About Ian Fleming. FIRST U.S. Edition. "It's 1969, and, having just celebrated his forty-fifth birthday, James Bond - British special agent 007 - is summoned to headquarters to receive an unusual assignment. Zanzarim, a troubled West African nation, is being ravaged by a bitter civil war, and M directs Bond to quash the rebels threatening the established regime. Bond's arrival in Africa marks the start of a feverish mission to discover the forces behind this brutal war - and he soon realizes the situation is far from straightforward. Piece by piece, Bond uncovers the real cause of the violence in Zanzarim, revealing a twisting conspiracy that extends further than he ever imagined. Moving from rebel battlefields in West Africa to the closed doors of intelligence offices in London and Washington, this novel is at once a gripping thriller, a tensely plotted story full of memorable characters and breathtaking twists, and a masterful study of power and how it is wielded - a brilliant addition to the James Bond canon." - from the inner front jacket flap.

Hardcover. Condición: Fine. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Fine. 1st Edition. Boyd, William. Solo: a James Bond novel. First edition. London: Jonathan Cape, 2013. Hardback, fine, in unclipped dustjacket with six 'bullet holes' in the front. Illustrated red boards with black lettering to spine. Red endpapers. 322pp., contents clean and bright. "William Boyd's James Bond book is, if anything, superior to some of Ian Fleming's originals. This book is more true to Fleming's intentions than some of the less good (and frankly padded) originals. Apart from anything else, it's simply a bloody good thriller. A triumph. Bond is back" (The Guardian). RightWayUp Books aims to provide accurate and detailed descriptions. Hardcover. First International edition. A James Bond continuation novel first published in the UK by Cape on September 26, 2013, a month later it was published in the U.S. The plot centers on bond's mission to the civil war in the fictional country of Zanzarim, a thinly veilved version of Biafra during the Nigerian Civil War where he meets the local M16 contact, Efua Blessing Ogilvy-Grant, and a Kobus Breed. After being shot by Ogilvy-Grant, Bond tracks both people to Washington on a revenge mission, finally establishing that Breed is traffiking heroin into the U.S. Boyd closely based his version of the Bond character on Ian Fleming's, and eschewed any of the film versions. The novel is set in 1969â "six years after Fleming's last work was setâ "and Bond is 45 years old. Boyd was raised in Nigeria and used his experiences during the civil war to provide the location for the novel. He has been a Bond fan since his youth and, in preparation for writing the novel he read all the Bond stories in chronological order. It took 18 months to write the novel, with some friction between Boyd and the Fleming estate over the portrayal of Bond. Solo received mixed reviews, with a number of critics pointing to the convoluted and unstirring plot. Other critics saw the book as being equal with, or superior to, Fleming's stronger novels. The book sold well, appearing in the top ten-selling book lists in the UK. A fine copy in a fine dust jacket.
