[African American] The Case of the Deadly Triangle. Ronald Ayers. Holloway House Publishing Co: Los Angeles, 1975. First edition. Measures 4.25 x 7". Soft cover shows a black man in yellow suit crouching over the bloodied body of a black woman as he shoots at the presumed assailant, a white man coming through the door. The story follows a love triangle and cocaine syndicate with black detective Leonard Robinson at its center. Holloway House was a publishing imprint of Kensington in operation from the 1960s until 2008 and best known for its proliferation of novels like this one that fall into the pop cultural subgenre of blaxploitation. The term describes work that relies on racial stereotypes for its plot points, although it is often embraced by African American pop culture. Holloway House was beloved by artists like Dave Chapelle and Ice T for being a "culturally authentic" part of the "black literary underground" (Black Perspectives). Many of these works use the form as a vehicle for cultural criticism. Very light shelfwear. Textblock clean and tight. Overall very good condition.
