Libro
Hardcover. Condición: Very Good. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Good. Jacket illustration by Robb Beebe Ilustrador. Although the only date printed in this volume is the G&D 1917 copyright, there is a small NON-authorial gift inscription to the top of the "Perkins" illustrated two-color FFE, dated Christmas 1938, and that is our assumed date of publication, since the jacket front flap is price-coded "5050," and Grosset & Dunlap used this coding to represent a 50-cent price from approximately 1938-1942. Color jacket illustration by Robb Beebe shows the Nautilus ramming a hybrid sail/steam warship, presumably at night. Color frontispiece uncredited; there are no internal illustrations. Although George Melies made a short silent film version in 1907, and a silent feature film followed in 1916, the classic film version remains the Walt Disney/Richard Fleischer Cinemascope adaptation of 1954, starring Kirk Douglas, James Mason, Peter Lorre, and, of course, the irrepressible Esmerelda the sea lion. 386 pp. Reduced from $110.

20,000 TWENTY THOUSAND LEAGUES UNDER THE SEAS, Donnelly, Loyd & Co., 1876, light wear to lower corner tips and spine extremities, spine lightened and gold-gilt lettering thereto faded, else a tight just about vg copy in the publishers original highly decorated cloth. Illustrated (with new illustrations not in the earlier American editions). A curiously uncommon early publication of this classic work. (Donnelly also published this title combined with THE TOUR OF THE WORLD IN 80 DAYS in the same year but alas we are not sure of the exact date of publication.).
