Hardcover. Condición: Very Good. Edward Shenton, et al Ilustrador. 1st Edition. "Best in Children's Books" was a series of 42 volumes published between 1957 and 1961. Each volume contained an excellent mixture of ten to twelve pieces, each illustrated by a different artist and taken from a variety of sources. The stories could be adapted classics, fairy tales, or new stories. There could be quite lengthy stories, or short verses. Each volume also contained some non-fiction, including a biographical piece on a famous person, and a short description of a country. Most notable about this series was the use of some excellent illustrators. This volume, number 13 in the series, includes illustrations by Edward Shenton (illustrator of "The Yearling"), Leonard Kessler, Phyllis Rowand and Paul Galdone. There's some "Old Mother Goose Rhymes" with lovely color pictures by Marguerite de Angeli; the story of "Ulysses and the Wooden Horse of Troy"; a piece about life on a farm, with photographs; and a biography of Robert Fulton and his steamboat. There's a short tear in one page, and some very minor spotting to edges, but a very good copy indeed.

Hardcover. Condición: Near Fine. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Very Good. Hildegard Woodward Ilustrador. First edition thus. Sex education for children from this Austrian-born parenting expert. I say "sex education" but there is actually no mention of sex that I can see in this book. Yes, it talks about a penis fitting into a vagina, but there is no mention of erections or orgasms - but I suppose this is the 1950s and the book is really more about pregnancy, birthing, and growing up than it is about love-making. This is a revised edition of the 1952 original. A near fine copy in a very good, slightly edgeworn and rubbed dust jacket with worn through holes on the front flap fold. There is text on the inside of the jacket which is a Guide to Parents.
