Published by Alexander Moring Ltd in 1904, here is the first hardback printing of LOVE'S LABOUR'S LOST (The Old-Spelling Shakespeare: The Works of William Shakespeare according to the orthography and arrangement of the more authentic quarto and folio versions edited by F.J.Furnivall. Grey cloth covered boards, quarter brown buckram binding, black lettering, 82 superb hand cut pages, the book is in very good condition with some very minor browning throughout and a Shakespeare society bookplate to the front pastedown commemorating the passing of American Ambassador Dr W.H.Page on Shakespeare day 1919. A scarce offering.

With a frontispiece etching of the Bard, and frequent in-text wood engravings. Contemporary tan full calf, with raised bands, gilt titles to burgundy label, and further gilt decoration to spine. Gilt tooling also to boards. All edges gilt, marbled endpapers, and gilt dentelle to turn-ins. Black ink ownership of C. Barham, December 1920, to first blank. Some spotting to endpapers and preliminaries. Spine toned and lightly rubbed, with light general wear and a few minor scratches to boards. Very good.
