Condición: Nuevo. 546 pp. Está muy bien definir la dignidad formalmente, como hace Kant cuando afirma que las personas tienen dignidad y no precio, puesto que poseen un valor absoluto al ser fines en sí mismos (cf. Fundamentación, Ak. IV 434-435), pero es evidente que tal definición resulta insuficiente y que la dignidad requiere ciertas condiciones para merecer ese nombre, un mínimo bienestar material que sirva de dique a la menesterosidad y al sufrimiento. Ésa es la razón de que los trabajos reunidos aquí aborden cuestiones tales como la eutanasia, el impacto de las nuevas tecnologías en la salud, la reflexión bioética, el significativo incremento de la longevidad, las claves del Estado de bienestar en Europa o la mal denominada Ley de Dependencia, cuya misión sería justamente fomentar, no tanto la independencia, como la interdependencia, pues no es otro el estado que mejor nos caracteriza en cuanto miembros de una comunidad social. Los estudios MCS en torno a Moral, Ciencia y Sociedad aspiran a complementar el ámbito ya consagrado por la disciplina CTS (Ciencia, tecnología y Sociedad), poniendo el acento sobre la importancia del discurso ético como referente de los avances científicos y sus aplicaciones político-sociales.
