Descripción: SCRIBNER, ARMSTRONG & CO, 1875. Hardcover. Estado de conservación: Very Good. 1st Edition. THE MYSTERIOUS ISLAND TRILOGY SET OF THREE BOOKS FIRST EDITION, FIRST PRINTINGS DROPPED FROM THE CLOUDS, ABANDONED, THE SECRET OF THE ISLAND BY JULES VERNE Scribner, Armstrong & Co. New York, 1875 Scribner, Armstrong & Co. New York, 1875 Scribner, Armstrong & Co. New York, 1876 Scarce complete matching set of unrestored First Edition, First printings of the three books which when combined create THE MYSTERIOUS ISLAND Trilogy by Jules Verne. This set took several years to collect, as each book is in stunning, unrestored condition, each book is clean inside and each book is in matching cloth colors. An highly scarce collectible example of this set of landmark Verne titles and stunning on the shelf! A complete set such as this (clean, unrestored, great condition and matching cloth) has not been offered or listed anywhere for years Dropped From The Clouds, 1875: The book is in beautiful unrestored condition with crisp, clean beveled terra cotta toned boards with an extremely bright unfaded gilt scene to the front and gilt motiffs to spine. The book has sharp corners with no edgewear, but a slight touch of rubbing to the bottom of the spine. Perfect original end papers with no owner names, no bookplates and no inscriptions. Two tiny dots of foxing to the front, otherwise the pages are in stunning crisp, clean condition with no handling marks, no stains, no writing, no bent pages and no foxing. The binding is tight and square. Please see many detailed images. Abandoned, 1875: The book is in beautiful unrestored condition with crisp, clean beveled terra cotta toned boards with a gilt scene to the front and gilt motiffs to spine. This is the only book of the three in which the gilt is just slightly faded to the spine. The book has sharp corners with no edgewear, and no rubbing. Perfect original end papers with no owner names, no bookplates and no inscriptions. Very crisp and clean internally with 2 pages with handling marks, otherwise no stains, no writing, no bent pages, no handling marks and no foxing. The binding is tight and square. Please see many detailed images. The Secret Of The Island, 1876: The book is in beautiful unrestored condition with crisp, clean beveled terra cotta toned boards with a bright unfaded gilt scene to the front and gilt motiffs to spine. The book has sharp corners with no edgewear, and no rubbing. Front end paper has a beautiful delicate inscription dated 12/25/1875 ( interesting in that the title page itself is dated 1876, so this is of bibliographical importance as it has been considered that typically Verne books were published at the end of the preceeding year to the date on the title page). Evidence of book plate removal, otherwise the end papers are original and clean with the one inscription. The internal pages are in stunning crisp, clean condition with no handling marks, no stains, no writing, no bent pages and no foxing. Touch of very very faint edge water mark along the edge of the last pages in the book. The binding is tight and square. Please see many detailed images. A very handsome set of these three books in scarce unrestored highly collectible matching condition. Examples of this important set of books with stunning gilt and withOUT the excessive staining or excessive wear and broken bindings as is typically found with Verne books are extremely difficult to locate. Finding the set in matching cloth is impossible. Presents extremely well on the shelf! ADDITIONAL IMAGES AVAILABLE UPON REQUEST. Please see our Abe store for other rare Verne titles. The internal pages are overall clean for a Verne book with a small very faded water mark to the very outer corner of many pages (if you look carefully you can notice it in the images, but it is very faded so hard to notice). Descripción: Sampson Low, Marston, Low & Searle, 1873. Hardcover. Estado de conservación: Very Good. 1st Edition. 1873 1ST/1ST SAMPSON LOW EDITION BY JULES VERNE Samson Low, Marston, Low & Searle, 1873 (as dated on the title page). Extremely scarce 1873 First edition, First printing The 1873 dated Sampson Low editions scarcity is such that few copies ever even become available for sale, and the few that do are priced into the 5 figures (currently only one is listed on Abe books, with a valuation of over $16,500). The 1873 Sampson Low edition of Around The World In Eighty Days is far more scarce than the 1873 Osgood edition of Twenty Thousand Leagues Under The Seas. ¿The first British edition, also the first illustrated edition, was published in November 1873; an American illustrated edition was then prepared from the English one. With both the British and the American illustrated editions, a few copies came out with 1873-dated title pages, but the majority were equipped with 1874-dated title pages (especially in England it was the custom to post-date books that came out near the end of a calendar year). The first British edition dated 1873 is exceedingly scarce (the Myers bibliography could only speculate about its existence): we have had only one copy, sold well into five figures. ¿ Sumner and Stillman ABAA, Abe books. This book is perfect for the Verne collector who is looking for this scarce book, but without the price tag usually associated with this title. The book is in overall nice condition with the scarce purple cloth beveled boards. Original end papers present. The boards have no edgewear, however there is the typical color fading to the spine cloth as always found with the copies in purple cloth. The book has received some professional restoration from an expert conservator, and as such the binding is tight, the pages are all present and the book is quite sound and readable. Gilt page edges. The internal pages have intermittent staining and foxing primarily found to the first 25 pages of the book, which is the primary reason this book does not have the $16,500 price as would otherwise be expected for this title. Please see many detailed images, including those of the typical page stains. Beautiful scarce, highly collectible, important Verne book. Perfect for a Verne collector looking for this scarce title at an affordable price. ADDITIONAL IMAGES AVAILABLE UPON REQUEST. Please see our Abe store for other Sci-Fi and Verne titles. Descripción: Hardcover. Estado de conservación: Very Good. 1st Edition. 1ST EDITION, 2ND PRINTING 1873 The true first printing of this book was printed by Osgood in 1873. However the Boston fire destroyed all but an estimated 50 copies of this printing so the 1873 Geo Smith printing is considered the next true first edition (or some refer to as the second printing of the first edition of this book), printed by Geo. M. Smith & Company 1873. Fully illustrated with 110 illustrations, 303 pages. The book is in great condition with emerald green boards with a gilt scene and titles to the front and spine. The book still has its original brown coated end papers. The book has had very slight restoration to the spine tips only, and presents extremely well. The book has no edgewear, and the binding is tight and square. Unlike most copies of this title which have poor/cracked bindings and loose pages, this book is tightly bound and is quite readable and not fragile. All pages are present and are overall clean with some scattered light faded handling marks as common with the Verne books, and about the front 40 pages (of the 303 total pages) have some faded water stains. Please see many detailed images. Beautiful rare, important Verne book in collectible condition with the scarce original end papers.
