Descripción: Sampson Low, Marston, Low, & Searle, 1873. Hardcover. Estado de conservación: Very Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. First edition. This copy has 1873 on the title page, which is legendarily scarce. The Myers bibliography could only speculate on how many copies were released. The vast majority of copies have 1874 on the copyright page. Even rarer than the Osgood issue of Twenty Thousand Leagues under the Sea, of which fewer than 50 have ever been found. Sumner and Stillman, well-respected British booksellers and specialists in Verne, have only had one in the last 25 years, which sold "well into the 5 figures." Temple books sold their copy for $14,000 several months ago. Condition and Description: See pictures. Very good overall. Elaborate gilt embossed red cloth, with black impressed illustrations. This book appeared in several different cloth variants--red, blue, and, green and purple. Illustrated with black and white plates. Frontispiece with tissue guard. Light - moderate foxing on the preliminaries and postliminaries as usual, which tapers progressively in an inward fashion. Gilt edges. The gilt on the cover is raised and scuffed in some locations, with some loss and fading. All pages and plates present and accounted for. Discrete and expert repair to the covers, including the spine ends (particularly the top/top left). The hinges and binding are tight, having benefited from invisible strengthening. The back end end paper and flyleaf have some age staining and a light reddish stain which runs the bottom edge, and a very small and very old bookseller bookseller sticker. In all, though not a perfect copy one which is both presentable and so scarce that options are limited. For those looking for a fine copy, please see David Mile's book catalog ($16,500). Descripción: Sampson Low, Marston, Low & Searle, 1873. Hardcover. Estado de conservación: Very Good. 1st Edition. Extremely scarce 1873 First edition, First printing The 1873 dated Sampson Low editions scarcity is such that few copies ever even become available for sale, and the few that do are priced into the 5 figures. The 1873 Sampson Low edition of Around The World In Eighty Days is far more scarce than the 1873 Osgood edition of Twenty Thousand Leagues Under The Seas. This book has beautiful green beveled boards with unfaded gilt titles to the front and spine, and a full gilt page block on all sides. The book is has benefited from being rebacked with the original cloth lay back down thus making the binding tight and square and the book very readable and not fragile as otherwise is typcial of Verne books. The scarce original end papers are present with ownership names to the front end paper (see images), with one being crossed out. The internal pages are all present and remarkably clean for a Verne book with only about a dozen pages with very faded foxing and with a about 3 pages with penciled notes, otherwise the pages are clean and bright with no bent pages, no stains, no foxing, no stains and no tears. Lacking tissue guard. Please see many detailed images. Beautiful scarce, highly collectible, important Verne book in stunning green boards with bright unfaded gilt. ADDITIONAL IMAGES AVAILABLE UPON REQUEST. Please see our Abe store for additional Verne listings and other Sci-Fi/Fantasy titles. Nº de ref. de la librería 000846

Descripción: SCRIBNER, ARMSTRONG & CO, 1874. Hardcover. Estado de conservación: Very Good. 1st Edition. Scribner, Armstrong & Co., 1874 FIRST edition, FIRST printing, FIRST State: Scarce true First state of the First edition of this title, published before the deluxe edition (and has a completely different board design). Scribner, Armstrong & Co. on the bottom of the spine. 52 illustratons by Riou. A stunning example of this title in green cloth. The original French edition came out in 1864. Scribner Armstrong¿s first American edition came out in November 1873, though dated 1874. The book is in beautiful condition with clean green boards with unusually strong bright gilt scene (of a waterfall and a raft) and titles to the front. The book has benefited from rebacking laying the original cloth back down. The book has no edgewear, and the binding is very tight and square. Unlike most copies of this title which have poor/cracked bindings and loose pages, this book is tightly bound and is quite readable and not fragile. Professionally replaced end papers. All pages are present and overall remarkably clean for a Verne book with no stains but to 2 pages only on the very outer edge of the page, and no foxing. Please see many detailed images. Descripción: J.S OGILVIE, 1890. Hardcover. Estado de conservación: Very Good. 1st Edition. First edition, First printing. Scarce true First Edition of the of this title, with 222pp + 2pp of advertisements. A beautiful example of this title in dark teal (blue/green) cloth. This title is the sequel to Verne¿s ¿Moon¿ books The book is in beautiful condition with clean boards with some slight rubbing to the boards. The binding is tight and square and the book has no edgewear. The book would be considered clean and internally unworn but a few pages (about 3 pages), had small archival support tape repairs. The original end papers are present. The internal pages, as always, are browned and brittle as Ogilvie produced very very very cheap books. However otherwise the pages are clean and with no stains, no handling marks and no bent pages. This is a highly uncommon Verne title. Please see many detailed images. Perfect for the Verne collector who has most everything! ADDITIONAL IMAGES AVAILABLE UPON REQUEST. Please see our Abe store for other Verne titles. Nº de ref. de la librería 000953

Descripción: SCRIBNER, ARMSTRONG & CO, 1876. Hardcover. Estado de conservación: Very Good. 1st Edition. Very scarce First Edition, First printing of the first combined edition of THE MYSTERIOUS ISLAND TRILOGY, which is the compilation of the 3 books, DROPPED FROM THE CLOUDS, ABANDONED, AND THE SECRET OF THE ISLAND by Jules Verne. Published in 1876 by Scribner, Armstrong & Co. New York. Please see image of the title page. First fully illustrated American edition. A very stunning book, grand in size, and in handsome blue cloth. The book is in beautiful condition with beveled blue cloth boards with a detailed gilt embossed scene to the front and spine. The book has benefited from being rebacked with all the original materials intact, with has made for a very strong, tight binding (so the book is quite readable!). Original end papers are present with no inscriptions, no prior owner names and no bookplates. The book has no edgewear and all the pages are present. The internal pages are overall clean for a Verne book with a small very faded water mark to the very outer corner of many pages (if you look carefully you can notice it in the images, but it is very faded so hard to notice). A few pages with curled corner edges. The pages otherwise have no handling marks, no stains but to about 4 pages, no writing, and no foxing. Please see many detailed images. This is a very thick book of 299 pages plus a small publishers catalogue at the end. A very handsome example of this title in collectible condition in stunning blue cloth and withOUT the excessive staining or excessive wear and broken bindings as is typically found with Verne books. Important scarce Verne book, presenting well on the shelf. Would make a wonderful gift for a Verne collector. Please note this is a very heavy thick book so International shipping is priced accordingly and with INTERNATIONAL Shipping incurring an additional $100 to ship using UPS. Descripción: SCRIBNER, ARMSTRONG & CO, 1875. Hardcover. Estado de conservación: Very Good. 1st Edition. THE MYSTERIOUS ISLAND TRILOGY SET OF THREE BOOKS FIRST STATE, FIRST EDITION, FIRST PRINTINGS DROPPED FROM THE CLOUDS, ABANDONED, THE SECRET OF THE ISLAND BY JULES VERNE Scribner, Armstrong & Co. New York, 1875 Scribner, Armstrong & Co. New York, 1875 Scribner, Armstrong & Co. New York, 1876 Scarce complete matching set of unrestored FIRST STATE First Edition, First printings of the three books which when combined create THE MYSTERIOUS ISLAND Trilogy by Jules Verne. This set took several years to collect, as each book is in stunning, unrestored condition, each book is clean inside and each book is in matching cloth colors. An highly scarce collectible example of this set of landmark Verne titles and stunning on the shelf! A complete set such as this (clean, unrestored, great condition and matching cloth) has not been offered or listed anywhere for years. The Mysterious Island was originally published as three individual books, and then later reprinted as one single combined book. Dropped From The Clouds, 1875: The book is in beautiful unrestored condition with crisp, clean beveled terra cotta toned boards with an extremely bright unfaded gilt scene to the front and gilt motiffs to spine. The book has sharp corners with no edgewear, but a slight touch of rubbing to the bottom of the spine. Perfect original end papers with no owner names, no bookplates and no inscriptions. Two tiny dots of foxing to the front, otherwise the pages are in stunning crisp, clean condition with no handling marks, no stains, no writing, no bent pages and no foxing. The binding is tight and square. Please see many detailed images. Abandoned, 1875: The book is in beautiful unrestored condition with crisp, clean beveled terra cotta toned boards with a gilt scene to the front and gilt motiffs to spine. This is the only book of the three in which the gilt is just slightly faded to the spine. The book has sharp corners with no edgewear, and no rubbing. Perfect original end papers with no owner names, no bookplates and no inscriptions. Very crisp and clean internally with 2 pages with handling marks, otherwise no stains, no writing, no bent pages, no handling marks and no foxing. The binding is tight and square. Please see many detailed images. The Secret Of The Island, 1876: The book is in beautiful unrestored condition with crisp, clean beveled terra cotta toned boards with a bright unfaded gilt scene to the front and gilt motiffs to spine. The book has sharp corners with no edgewear, and no rubbing. Front end paper has a beautiful delicate inscription dated 12/25/1875 ( interesting in that the title page itself is dated 1876, so this is of bibliographical importance as it has been considered that typically Verne books were published at the end of the preceeding year to the date on the title page). Evidence of book plate removal, otherwise the end papers are original and clean with the one inscription. The internal pages are in stunning crisp, clean condition with no handling marks, no stains, no writing, no bent pages and no foxing. Touch of very very faint edge water mark along the edge of the last pages in the book. The binding is tight and square. Please see many detailed images. A very handsome set of these three books in scarce unrestored highly collectible matching condition. Examples of this important set of books with stunning gilt and withOUT the excessive staining or excessive wear and broken bindings as is typically found with Verne books are extremely difficult to locate. Finding the set in matching cloth is impossible. Presents extremely well on the shelf! ADDITIONAL IMAGES AVAILABLE UPON REQUEST. Please see our Abe store for other rare Verne titles.
