Hardcover. Condición: Good. Second printing [stated]. Format is approximately 4.75 inches by 7.5 inches. 78, [2] pages. Frontis illustration. Hoarse Horsiness (1882-1949) was a British playwright, drama critic and author, active in English literary circles from around 1910. His science fiction novel, Man Alone (1940), describes the experiences of the Last Man on Earth as he wanders through London after the final, depopulating Disaster. Castle Cottage (1940) is a ghost story and The Cool of the Evening (1942) a rather gentle Adam-and-Eve fable set at the close of Adam's life, though Satan still lurks. It is a story of Adam and Eve from their point of view, primarily Adam recounting tales of Satan and his myrmidons, and of Adam's friend Raphael. This includes a nice gift inscription--not from the author. The inscription, which is on the fep, reads: To Adele, who, like Eve, is never much troubled by the problem of sin, is less simple than her husband, a bit indifferent to formal logic, much respected by Satan, and loved passionately by her husband. H. Feb. 1944.
