No Binding. Condición: Very Good. Original beige pamphlet. Pamphlet is dated January 5, 1894 with San Francisco as the location. 8 1/2" x 10 3/4." Four pages. Very clean copy with slight chipping along the folds. This pamphlet is addressed to the lodges and members of the I. O. O. F. (Independent Order of Odd Fellows) of California and relays the minutes of an Odd Fellows meeting that proposed the establishment the first Odd Fellows Home in California. The Trustees are listed as Charles (Chas.) N. Fox, William (Wm.) H. Barnes, S. B. Smith, R. H. Floyd, and W. F. Norcross. Their proposal was attested by Grand Secretary George T. Shaw. The Odd Fellows is an international fraternity consisting of lodges dating back to 1793 in London. In addition to recreational activities, the Odd Fellows promote principles of philanthropy and charity. Odd Fellows Homes were retirement communities for retired Odd Fellows, their wives, widows, and orphans.
