Libro Original o primera edición
Hardcover. Condición: Near Fine. 1st Edition. Two volumes. Young Gentlemen: viii, 76 pp. + 6 plates; Young Ladies: viii, 80 pp. + 6 plates. Hardcovers, bound in uniform tooled morocco over marbled boards without the ads. Minor blemishes, mostly to the frontispieces. The anonymous "Sketches of Young Ladies" in 1837, not at all complimentary to the fairer sex, was wrongly attributed to Dickens but more likely by Edward Caswall. Dickens answered, also anonymously, the following year with "Sketches of Young Gentlemen," here in the first issue. Because of the association they were often bound together or, as in this case, in uniform sets.
