Written by Theodore Sorensen, an advisor, counsel and speechwriter for President Kennedy, who argues that the US should immediately begin negociations with North Vietnam, South Vietnam and the Viet Cong to cease combat operations and all sides recognize the pre-war borders of both Vietnams. Written almost five and half years before the US and North Vietnam signed a treaty. The rest of the magazine includes articles on education, the Teachers Union and advertiesments from the period. Of note is the lengthy article by Faubion Bowers entitled "Homosex: Living the Life" - "The questions who? what? why? bafflingly persist" with three photos ("liberationists during 1971's Gay Pride Week in New York City"; "Manhattan's first Gay Liberation Parade last June was mirrored in other major American cities - As thousands of marchers paraded, some bystanders urged, 'Why don't you try women first?' 'We have,' answered many of the demonstrators"; "On several occasions, David Susskind's TV talk show has focused on the subject of homosexuality - male and female. Above, the ladies openly and sincerely discuss lesbianism before a nationwide audience of thirty-two million viewers"). See the two men's entries in the Oxford DNB. Russell's papers are in the Harry Ransom Center at Texas. 1p, 4to. Aged and worn, with creasing and closed tear along left edge. Folded one. Carrying a neat and controlled signature, 'Leonard Russell.' He has 'just come across' the books Wilson lent him, 'buried under a mass of books and papers', and apologises. He ends by asking how Wilson's 'Notes from a Bookshop' are going. 'Copy as soon as you like.' Wilson has ticked across the two paragraphs to signify action taken.

See his father's entry in the Oxford DNB. 2pp, 16mo. On first leaf of bifolium. In good condition, lightly aged. Folded for postage. The recipient's full name is not give. Signed 'Walter H Pollock'. The 'Ajax business' referred to in the letter is the performance of the first of the Cambridge Greek plays, organised by the archaeologist Sir Charles Walston [formerly Waldstein] (1856-1927). Begins: 'My dear Thomas / My friend Dr Waldstein who has got up the whole Ajax business asks me to send you the enclosed admission and programme.' He ends by offering to get him 'any details as to the archaeological part of the business'.
