Front board is detached from text block and is very worn and rubbed; back board is gone; spine is chipped and very worn; the back free endpaper has a tear at bottom and is stained; volume has foxing and is shaken; former owner's name at top of free front endpaper; the preliminary pages and frontispiece have a large damp stain at bottom; front hinge is cracked, holding precariously viii, 232 p., with an engraved title page opposite the frontispiece, followed by the printed title page. Size: 5 3/4 x 3 inches. [b 256 ifo lt swtch].

Rubbed joints with minor leather loss. Firm binding. viii,232 pp., engraved frontis. + first title. Interior intact, clean, with a few dog-eared leaves. Three volumes in one, very scarce. Size: 24mo - over 5" - 5¾" tall. Book.

Original paper covered boards worn and marked, missing spine, small heraldic plate to front paste-down, two engravings by A W Warren with small contemporary ink name and date to one corner, gatherings loosening, many pages unopened, good. Collection of four works loosely grouped around nature and the search for meaning in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries.

Hardcover. Condición: Good. 1st Edition. Small book (13cm x 7cm approx) full leather with gilt decoration to edges and titles to spine. Some light rubbing to faces and edges. Marbled edges to text block and end papers. Internally clean. The book is in very good condition other than the frontispiece and half title pages have been cut and have lost approx 1-2cm from the top edge (see photo) Please note the font size is very small due to the size of the book. The stories include Atala by Rene Chateaubriand, Indian Cottage by Bernadin St Pierre (better known for Paul and Virginie) and Idylls and The First Navigator by Salomon Gessner.

Saint-Pierre and Idyls and First Navigator by Solomon Gessner, translated from the French and German. Attractive 19th Century binding of full leather with gilt rules and decoration on the front and back panels and gilt decoration and contrasting title panel on the spine. 232 pages. Marbled end papers and page edges. Text very good and tight with moderate age-browning of the engraved frontispiece, vignette half-title page and the title page. Light age-browning in places elsewhere. No inscriptions. Binding very good and tight. See photographs attached.
