(Vgl. After his father‘s death in 1560, he returned to Spain to claim his privileges as son of a conquistador, which he did not receive for political reasons (being a son of an Incan princess). He never returned to Peru but collected information and sources as to write three books between 1605 and 1617 on the history of South America as seen by the Incas. - Gonzalez de Barcia (1673-1743) is considered as the first Americanist. Besides his different duties in the Royal court - he was one of the founding members of the Real Academia Española - he published the most important historical works on the conquest of New World by the Spaniards, many of which were already rare in the 18th century. Up to 1737 Gonzalez de Barcia edited 13 compilations of historical texts. (Comp. Jonathan Earl Carlyon: Andrés González de Barcía and the creation of the colonial Spanish American, Toronto 2005). Sporadically lightly stained. Endpapers with shadows of glue. Bindings lightly worn.
