Hardcover. Condición: Very Good. No Jacket. Martin Van Maele Ilustrador. Limited Edition. This is the first volume of a two volume French reprint of this erotic classic initially published in the 16th Century. Illustrated, by Martin Van Maele, with a number of erotic illustrations and full page engravings issued in a limited edition of 480 copies, this being number 155. A very good copy rebound in rubbed red cloth with a title label to spine and original paper wraps bound in. This copy comes from the estate of David K. E. Bruce, the former U.S. Under Secretary of State and Ambassador to West Germany, France and England - the only American to hold all three positions. His bookplate on the fep includes a depiction of Staunton Hill the Bruce family's plantation home in Virginia. Inscribed by David Bruce on preliminary blank "D.K.E. Bruce Paris October 13, 1948.". An uncommon book with an interesting provenance.
