Paperback. Condición: Good. First Edition. 32 pages. "A unique folio containing the original versions, plus Fats Waller's modern conceptions. Songdom's foremost popular classics, interpreted in the modern manner by the famed piano stylist, radio and recording star." - from front cover. Includes piano sheet music for Star Dust; Margie; Nobody's Sweetheart; Ain't Misbehavin'; Girl of My Dreams; I Can't Give You Anything But Love; My Honey's Lovin' Arms; Yaaka Hula Hickey Dula; Just a Baby's Prayer at Twilight; How Come You Do me Like You Do. "Thomas 'Fats' Waller is one of the more important of the modern pianist-composers. Born in New York on May 21, 1904, the son of a minister, 'Fats' played the organ and sang in the choir of the Abyssinian Baptist Church in Harlem, where his father preached until he was fifteen years old. Shortly after, the lure of the stage beckoned him to the interesting field of the Harlem cabaret, and he remained in that gay section of the city until 1924, occasionally doubling as a theatre organist and as a piano-roll artist for the Q-R-S Company." - page 1. Unmarked with moderate wear. Binding sound. A quality copy of this wonderful vintage compilation.

Approximately 10" x 12.25" menu from the former Tic Toc Club in Boston, which was located at 245 Tremont Street, opposite the Metropolitan Theatre (now known as the Wang Theatre), in the heart of the theater district. The menu is SIGNED BY FATS WALLER and one other person (Irene Marconi?), likely a local musician. Fats Waller was a celebrated jazz pianist, composer, singer, and comedic entertainer, and most active during the 1920s and 1930s until his untimely death in 1943. The menu is from the first of several Tic Toc Club locations in Boston, and featured big name band performances. It is not known how the menu came to be signed by Waller, but whether or not he actually performed at the Tic Toc or not, it is likely a club he would have visited if in Boston. Very unique autograph piece of this jazz icon. PLEASE NOTE that all our First Editions are also First Printings, unless we specifically note otherwise. All our dust jackets are protected in clear mylar covers. Very good. The menu has soft creases and minor nicks and wear along the edges, but is overall, well-preserved.

Hardcover. Condición: Fair. Guestbook. Oblong quarto. Approximately 70 leaves. Leather boards. Front board lacking, chipping confined mostly to the foredge of several leaves, toning on first couple of leaves, clippings have sometimes offset on facing pages, overall in fair condition. Some cards, telegrams, clippings, etc. affixed on versos. Guestbook of Scarsdale socialite Amy Jane Wilson who apparently entertained both lavishly and frequently, and over a broad section of society. Each lined leaf of the album has a place for name, address, date, and remarks. Among those who have Signed the guest books are several jazz musicians who sign on the same page and on the same date, September 24th 1934, including: Fats Waller (who signs as "Thomas 'Fats' Waller Yes! Yes! 86-W-119th St., SKIP THE GUTTER - YES!"), Bud Freeman, Eddie Condon (who signs as "Slick Condon"), Al Sidell, and Frank Billings. Also signing are playwrights Eugene O'Neill and Samuel Merwin, baseball executive Connie Mack, and artist Gerard Hordyk, who signed, along with a full page drawing of a dog (and with a tipped-in program to an exhibition of his work at the Wildenstein Gallery). The clippings tipped-in occasionally identify various other minor luminaries, and also present are names from prominent families (Rothschild, Patson. etc.), but primarily of interest to us at least, are the signatures of the noted jazzmen.
