This publication is the result of a cooperative program carried out by the author and three Peruvian anthropologists who were representatives, respectively, of the Institute of Social Anthropology and the Instituto de Estudios etnológicos. Julian H steward, director of the former organization has contributed a foreword that explains the nature of the project; and Dr Luis E Valcrecel, Peru's Minister of Public Education has written a preface that points up the need of more anthropological studies for the practical use of administrators.
