The Roe family arrived at their Blackfalds (Alberta) district homestead in 1894. Cond : Paper wrapper is brown with yellow-orange lettering. Barnyard scene on front cover involves four horses and thirteen chickens. Bright, tight, square, and clean. No names, marks, creases, nor tears. Minimal wear, minimal soiling. Quote (p. 98) : " Plenty of snow in the bush also meant a better chance among the dead fallen trees which lay underfoot in al directions and which would snap a softwood runner like a matchstick if one crossed it with a load.
