Hardcover. Condición: Near Fine. 1st Edition. Scarce first edition of this autobiographical account from the former Washington state legislator and U. S. Air Force Brigadier General, serving in WWII and the Korean War. Privately published by the author in 1948. Details Goldsworthy's nine months in a Japanese prisoner camp after his plane was shot down during a bombing mission outside Tokyo in 1944. Roughly 50 years later, he returned to Japan to make peace with the community near where he was held captive. In 2011, he issued a revised edition of the book which included the details of his reconciliation trip. This first edition copy is signed by Goldsworthy on the title page. Near fine in black boards with stamped lettering which is perhaps a bit faded. Internally clean. Worldcat locates 1 copy of this fascinating POW narrative.
