CONDITION DESCRIPTION: Ex-Library from the Mercantile Library with blind stamp on cover, bookplate on endpaper, perforating stamp on frontis, title page and additional pages throughout the text. Covers are soiled and worn on corners and spine ends. Spine dulled with label removed. Else interior is clean and tight. Maps are complete and with library perforating stamps. CONTENTS DESCRIPTION: The 77th Pennsylvania Volunteers served with the Army of the Ohio and later Army of the Cumberland and mustered out of service in Texas in 1865. Wear to extremities with corners rubbed through, top and bottom of spine just beginning to fray, spine gilt dulled, shaken with front hinge cracked ca. 3" up from the bottom, all illustrations present and in fine condition, both folding maps present and in very good to fine condition, else very good and better with no internal markings. No dust jacket. On the front pastedown is the following gift inscription: "Compliments of J.A. Berkey." Berkey was an attorney in Somerset County, PA.
