After their meeting onboard the steamboat Far West on the evening of June 21, 1876, General Alfred Terry stopped by Lieutenant Colonel Custer's tent to say good night and wish Custer well on his mission to follow the hostile Indians' trail beginning the nedt day. Mary Adams later signed an affidavit re: what she heard, but its authenticity was quesitoned for many years by some, particularly William A. Falconer and Colonel William Graham in his book "The Custer Myth,", who knew that an M. Adams stayed behind at Fort Abraham LIncoln during the Big Horn Campaign to serve as a housemaid for Mrs. Elizabeth Custer.
