Presumably the intent was to point out that there are contemporary heroines worthy of admiration. So Elizabeth Dole stands comparable in stature to Clara Barton? Sally Ride to Amelia Earhart (whose disappearance alone has merited entire books, but who here gets the standard eight pages)? Barbara Walters and Cokie Roberts are on a par with Margaret Bourke-White? OK fine. Dated 2005, inscribed, and signed (full name) in blue felt tip by Kay Bailey Hutchinson (who we are to believe found time to research and write this book without assistance while serving in the U.S. Senate) to the half-title page.
