This is one of a limited number of 200 of this special editions which were produced with vellum binding which is in good/fair condition with a 2ins split on the spine. 264 pages with 48 colour plates by Yoshio Markino plus 12 sepia plates. Text is english.

Medium brown cloth with gilt lettering on spine and front board, black illustration on front board, top edge gilt. Preface in French, all other text in English. 48 colour plates (including tissue-covered frontispiece) plus 12 sepia drawings - all present. Chapter headings: Of the Colour of Paris; Of Open Spaces; Of the Faubourgs: The Working Class; Of Politics and the Political World; Of the Theatre; Of Women in Paris; Of Journalism; Of Military Paris; Of Paris Finance; Of Education and the Paris Schools; Index. Small light mark from old label? and a 1/2" x 1 1/2" area of paper thinning due to pencil erasure at top corner of free front endpaper, some faint paper and glue residue on front pastedown - possibly from an old bookplate, small tear at bottom of front inside hinge archivally taped, light separation between several page gatherings but holding firm in binding, wrinkling at top/bottom of spine, light edge wear, light browning to fore-edge of text block, light to moderate browning and some light shelf soiling on bottom of text block, protected in a stiff mylar sleeve.
