  • Imagen del vendedor de Outlook Magazine, The 16th Annual Recreation Number, June 1905. Containing Articles on Adirondack Mountains, Camping on a Connecticut River, Thoreau, Yosemite, John Muir, Prince of Montenegro, and a Poem on Angling by Henry Van Dyke, and country Life in Broadway (No bright Lights!) Great Period Advertising, Antique Weekly Periodical. OP a la venta por Brothertown Books

Soft cover. Condición: Very Good. This is a fascinating issue of an antique magazine, "The Outlook", from June 3, 1905, being the 16th Recreation Annual Number, containing articles, stories, and poems. Henry Van Dyke shares an Illustrated poem, An Angler s Wish ; Hamilton Mabie writes about Thoreau; Harold Rowland recounts a winter outing in the Adirondack Mountains, which is illustrated with photographs; John Muir writes about Yosemite, and Rupert Underwood Johnson s Memoir of Muir is revealing. We read of The Prince of Montenegro, who was also a poet. Elisabeth Woodbridge reports on a lovely camping trip by canoe along a Connecticut River. One may be amused by the article about Country Life in Broadway - a Broadway with absolutely no bright lights except the sun in the sky! There are many more articles, stories and poems. It is a fascinating and nostalgic issue. the Edwardian era advertisements, including many for railroads and vacation hotels are lovely. A few pages of ads for antique motor cars are wonderful (Of course they were brand new then!) ******************************************* TITLE : The Outlook - Sixteenth Annual Recreation Number / ISSUE : Vol. 80, No. 5 / DATE : June 3, 1905 / EDITOR : No Editor given [ Possibly Ernest Hamlin Abbott , 1870 - 1931] / IMPRINT : The Outlook Company / PLACE : 287 Fourth Ave., 1436 Marquette Building, New York / PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION : Weekly Illustrated Magazine; approx. 7 3/4" x 10 1/2", illustrated wraps, stapled and glued.
