"Krzysztof Dunin-Wasowicz (1923 - 2013) was a Polish historian (and) professor of history at the Institute of History of Sciences. Arrested on 13 April 1944, after a stay in Szucha Avenue and Pawiak (he) was deported to the concentration camp Stutthof. he escaped during the evacuation in February 1945." A powerful memoir from Polish author, historian and activist Krzysztof Dunin-Wasowicz, recounting his time imprisoned in the Stutthof concentration camp on the Baltic Coast of Poland, from 1944-1945. Introduction by historian, soldier and resistance fighter Dr. Stanislaw Ploski. The final three pages contain a table of contents and two detailed maps, one of the Stutthof camp, and one of the surrounding region. Text in Polish. Wrapper with some minor rubbing and chipping to extremities. Covers sunned with some minor smudges. Wrappers in very good-, interior in near fine condition overall. Krzysztof Dunin-WÄ sowicz (1923-2013) was a Polish author, historian and professor. He and his family were active in socialist causes before the outbreak of WWII. During the Nazi occupation of Poland he and his family were active in the Polish resistance involved in protecting and aiding Jews. Dunin-WÄ sowicz himself was an active member of "Å»egota", the Polish Council to Aid Jews, an underground Polish resistance organization, under the direction of the Polish government in Exile. He was captured in 1944 by the Gestapo and sent to Stutthof as a political prisoner. He managed to escape from the camp in early 1945.
