Soft. Condición: Fair. 1st Edition. Fair+. Unbound. Front free endpaper, title page, 13 maps and rear free endpaper. The edges of the title page are a little nicked, as pictured. There is an inch long closed tear to the blank margin of the map Orbis Verteribus Notus. The map of Italy has a small ink mark to the word 'Sicilia' and one of the place names of the island has been correct with hand drawn line through it and the corrected name written instead (all as pictured). There is a touch of toning and foxing here and there and the odd sparse speckling of black - all as pictured. 13 maps, hand-coloured in outline, most double-page, as called for. A few trimmed to engraved frame, as usual. Elephant folio; 22".

Half Calf. Condición: Very Good. Large folio, measuring 22 by 15.5 inches, or 56 by 40 cm, with the 13 maps contained herein all double paged. The maps are copper engraved and hand-colored in outline, most with typical Baroque style, often figurative, cartouches in the corners with the title of the particular map contained therein. The maps are watermarked 1794. They are also printed on a paper with a high rag content and thus well-preserved, with a bit of light toning and only trivial soiling otherwise. A few leaves have a long, narrow light dampstain along a margin, which few would find bothersome. There are a few minor chips and/or tears besides, again not intrusive of the maps proper. Rebacked with modern calf. Otherwise the marbled boards and the corner calf triangles are contemporary. The latter have wear, as do the edges.
