The plates illustrate the development of the artist's work with content ranging from urban themes in Melbourne through the first Kelly paintings to the Outback and Central Interior paintings and drawings which Nolan completed before his arrival in Europe. Then follow the second series of Kelly paintings, the saga of Mrs Fraser and the convict Bracefell, Italian and Greek studies, Leda and the Swan and Gallipoli' 199pp.

Number 6 of 60 deluxe copies signed by the artist and all three authors, with an original monotype (sheet size approximately 235 × 195 mm) signed in pencil 'Nolan'.
