Cloth. Condición: Very Good Indeed. Not Stated Ilustrador. A new edition of this autobiography of Dr. Alexander Carlyle, illustrated with numerous portraits. A new edition of this work in the publisher's original cloth binding. Loosely inserted are two newspaper articles; one concerning the publisher, the other concerning Alexander Carlyle, whose nickname was Jupiter Carlyle due to his ruddy complexion. Alexander Carlyle (1722-1805) was a Scottish church leader who served as Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland between 1770 and 1771. This autobiography, edited by John Hill Burton, provides an interesting insight into the social and ecclesiastical history of Scotland in the 18th century, though it does not extend beyond the year 1770. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally very smart, with very light shelf wear. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Very Good Indeed. book.
