Libro
Hardcover. Condición: As New. Estado de la sobrecubierta: As New. Illustrated with 62 monochrome plates Ilustrador. Limited Edition. Tall slim quarto. Orange cloth with gilt lettered backstrip, dustwrapper. One in the publisher's "World's Heritage of Woven Fabrics" series. CHARLES II after spending thorn years in exile in France, landed at Dover on 25th May 1660, to the general delight and joy of the populace, and restored the Monarchy in England. With the Restoration came a widespread feeling of gaiety and an enthusiasm for the arts. In both costume and fabric design this rebirth was very apparent and cuss further encouraged by the King, who, for a number of years, roused many of the latest French fashions to be imported into this country. They were usually fantastic and fanciful in design but were, however, received and adopted wholeheartedly by a large proportion of the nobility at Court.
