Binding has light soil and wear; "Briggs Allen School" written on free front endpaper, with no other institutional marks in the book; front hinge cracked, holding; back hinge starting; frontispiece loose, with foxing and a crease on the illustration onlay; a few pages have a bit of light, minor soil or foxing, mostly in margins. 200 p., well illustrated.

Hardcover. 200pp. Quarto [25.5 cm] Tan cloth over boards with dark brown ink stamped lettering and ornamental designs on the spine and front cover. Very good. The extremities are darkened and mildly stained. There are a couple of short splits in the cloth along the front joint, and the cloth at the spine ends is a bit chipped. The free endsheets are subtly browned, and the pages are tanned. With 4 tipped in color plates. A collection which includes stories by Thomas Hardy, A. A. Milne, G. K. Chesterton, Hilaire Belloc, Hugh Lofting, J. M. Barrie, and Walter De La Mare. With illustrations by Harold Earnshaw, J. R. C. Bodley, T. Heath Robinson, Mabel Lucie Attwell, and many others.
