Hardcover. Condición: Near Fine. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Near Fine. Second Edition. Rare title about the "Founder of Osteopathy." Stated Second Edition 1942. Original copyright 1938. Quite a nicely preserved copy, the jacket has a few small chips and short tears. There is a half inch moisture drop to both the front and rear jacket panels, they do not detract. A former owner has rubberstamped his name twice each to the front and rear endpapers, along with a failed attempt to the fore edge pages.

Libro Original o primera edición
Hardcover. Condición: Very Good. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Good. 1st Edition. A.G. Hildreth. Macon, Missouri. 1942. Second edition. There is no material difference between the first and second edition aside from one page, a Preface to the Second Edition, in which it states there is no difference. In reality the Second Edition is in effect the second printing but the terms edition and printing have often been used interchangeably. In any event this is a memoir of the early days of Osteopathic Medicine. The author. Dr. A. G. Hildreth was one of the first students of Dr. Andrew Taylor Still, who developed natural methods of healing called osteopathy and is considered the founding father of Osteopathic Medicine. Not only is this a super-rare title but is ust about impossible to find a copy in its original DJ. Book is tight and clean. Binding and hinges are strong and sound. Endpapers are bright. Binding stamped in gilt with decorative raised bands. A well-made book. The most uncommon DJ is present. Despite its obvious flaws of multiple open chips and tape hosts on rear, the DJ still remains highly desirable because they just don't exist as most have crumbled away and been discarded. Book shows minimal shelf-rubbing along edge tips. Books only flaw is correctable as there are tiny paper remnants attached to exterior boards that are removable with a fingernail, should this be bothersome. This book comes from the personal collection of noted doctor, professor and psychoanalyst Dr. Henry Guze; founder of The American Academy of Psychotherapists and the Society for Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis and cofounder/President of the Society for the Scientific Study of Sex. Dr. Guze's signature and ownership stamp is on the front free endpaper. A rare offering in every aspect. A memoir of the early days of Ostepathy, its founder, and an apt pupil. An uncommon title; very rare in DJ.
