Dr. Lovejoy was an influential ecologist, field biologist, and activist; former head of the Amazon Biodiversity Center, World Wildlife Fund, and advisor to the United Nations and Smithsonian Institution. He is credited with introducing the term biological diversity to the mainstream environmental movement. In addition, he was a passionate collector of books on the natural world. No Binding. Condición: Fair. (1927) Unbound folio of 45 bw photographic plates, with 3 pp. introductory material. The original cardboard slipcase is in pieces. Plates show taxidermy mounts by Akeley (mostly African mammals), also some bronze sculptures (African elephants, lion hunting). Several plates have bumps to the top corners, these affect only the margins. These bumps are visible in the photos, see the zebras and the elephants. Overall, the plates are good to very good.
