The pages are tightly bound, clean & unmarked, wear to the spine ends and corners, also some to the cover edges and spine hinges. A break to the inside spine showing some of the weave and the previous owner's name plate is on the front free end paper. The frontispiece is a fold-out map with one more pull-out map in the book. "The Battle of the Mons was the first engagement between the B. E. F and the Kaiser's Armies. The British attempted to hold the line at Mons-Condé Canal against the advancing German 1st Army.
