Sinopsis: The Undefeated Nation was written by Adolfs Blodnieks, a former Prime Minister of Latvia, with an Introduction by Earl L. Packer, former First Secretary of the U.S. Legation in Riga, Latvia who personally witnessed the illegal occupation of the Baltic States by the Soviet Union in 1940. As a result of that Soviet aggression, noted US Diplomat Hon. Loy Henderson, who like friends of his such as Earl L. Packer, had served both in Russia and in Riga, Latvia, during their careers led the overt battle for continued US recognition of the Independence of Estonia., Latvia, and Estonia until those countries could regain their lawful freedom and independence, which they did achieve following the peaceful implosion of the Soviet Union. Former Prime Minister of Latvia Adolfs Blodnieks in his youth took an active part in the Latvian revolution against Russian imperialism during World War I and against the Baltic Germans who were powerful within Latvia and its neighbor, Estonia, in Tsarist times. Adolfs Blodnieks, as leader of the Latvian New Farmers and Smallholders Party, became Prime Minister of Latvia in 1933. Blodnieks survived the brutal Soviet and Nazi German occupations of Latvia during World War II, and ultimately escaped, to the United States, where he was associated with the Free Europe Committee, parent organization of Radio Free Europe. American Historical Review well described The Undefeated Nation in its review: "This is a lively, well-written story of the Latvian nation. Blodnieks' eventful life has been directly associated with almost every important development in the long, adventurous struggle of the Latvian nation for its independence from Russian, German, and Bolshevik domination." Adolfs Blodnieks and Alfreds Berzins, the last surviving Cabinet Minister of the last free Latvian government of President Karlis Ulmanis of Latvia when the Soviets occupied Latvia, joined together in exile in support of the Baltic States becoming the permanent bottom line barometer for the U.S. to measure its relationship with Russia, a barometric status that remains today of extreme importance, especially since Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania are now permanent Allies of the United States within the NATO framework. At the time that he edited The Undefeated Nation, its Editor, Jon P. Speller, was also serving as Personal Secretary to Commander Sergius M. Riis, who had been a fellow US Intelligence officer in Revolutionary Russia with Loy Henderson and Earl Packer, and who had also served in the Baltic States of Latvia and Estonia, and who was an extremely well-connected covert advocate of the importance of the independence of the Baltic States. Convinced that the Containment policy concept of George Kennan left windows of opportunity holes that the Soviets could, and did, exploit, and that the Liberation policy advocated by John Foster Dulles was too unrealistic and risky in the complicated international arena of the nuclear age, Commander Riis and his Personal Secretary and a small nucleus of Americans and exiles from Communist countries created the most secret non-governmental concept of the "implosion theory" which could result in an eventual collapse of the Soviet Union and the Communism system based upon clandestinely, and through psywar psychological stimuli, utilizing the inherent contradictions within the Marxist-Leninist ideology to tilt the East Bloc into an eventual peaceful "implosion," as it eventually did. An early important such psychological stimuli input concerning Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania specifically, was planted by the Editor in Earl L. Packer's Introduction to The Undefeated Nation: "Independence might also arrive via the not impossible route of fragmentation of the Soviet empire produced by spontaneous combustion." This eventually is what happened.
