Cape Cod never had a better friend than this novelist, poet and short story writer, who memorialized the Massachusetts peninsula in a lengthy series of books ranging from "Cape Cod Ballads and Other Verse" in 1902 to "The Bradshaws of Harniss" in 1943, with dozens of titles in between. TLS, 1p, 8½" X 11", Winter Park, FL, 6 March 1940. Addressed to Arnold F. Gates (1914-93, noted Lincoln and Civil War scholar). Very good. Faint original mailing folds. Gracious note acknowledging birthday wishes. In part: "It is always a pleasure to hear from those who enjoy my writings. I had planned a good deal of work during our stay in Florida, but have been able to do very little owing to illness." Boldly signed in full in blue ink. N° de ref. de la librería 40736
