Sm. 4to., First and Sole Edition, with over 250 fine photographs, panoramas and facsimiles in the text, 40 maps in colours (36 folding, 3 full-page and 1 double-page; one with captioned tissue overlay), and coloured endpaper maps; original holland cloth, divisional emblem sticker on front board, a near fine copy in unclipped dustwrapper, the latter with one short closed tear neatly reinforced on inner surface. Wanting the loose map showing the Division's progress through Germany which is almost invariably missing. 'The information given in this document is not to be communicated, either directly or indirectly, to the Press or to any person not authorised to receive it.' One of the best and most comprehensively illustrated of all British WWII unit histories. Includes tables and charts of detailed statistics regarding the division and its service, together with brief statistics on 21 Army Group and WWII in general. 79 Armoured Division, commanded by Major-General Percy Hobart (of 'Hobo's Funnies' fame) was the only all-armoured division of the British Army during WWII.
