Sobre el libro

Descripción:

This mysterious producer and impresario, whom Frank Sinatra called "The Genius," founded New York's famed Copacabana nightclub in 1940, supposedly a front for mobster Frank Costello, and by the late 1950s was producing resort shows in Las Vegas. Signed program booklet, small 4to (6" X 9"), New York, NY, 1848. 16pp. Very good. Schubert Theatre program for the short-lived musical comedy "Heaven on Earth." On the glossy front cover, which features a stylized sketch of a fashionable lady in evening gown and long white gloves, Proser signs boldly near the bottom in green ink. Near the top of the program, uncredited co-director JOHN MURRAY ANDERSON (1886-1954) signs in full in blue ink, adding "1948." And near the center three cast members also sign: star PETER LIND HAYES (1915-98), CLAUDE STROUD (1906-85) and DOROTHY JARNAC (1922-?) also sign in blue ink, and for good measure Hayes actress-singer wife MARY HEALY (born 1918) signs as well in green ink. One critic at the time noted that Proser, successful with the Copacabana and another musical, "had better hang onto that brace of entertainment bonanazas after the way his latest musical comedy. thudded onto Broadway Thursday evening." An unusual assemblage of signatures from this ill-fated production. N° de ref. del artículo 34799
