The inaugural dissertation of the anatomist, Eduard Weber (1806-71), the brother of physicist Wilhelm Weber (1804-91) with whom he collaborated. Their 'Mechanik der menschlichen gehwerkzeuge' (1836) ".contains an anatomical discussion of the joints used in walking and running, measurements made on living subjects, and a mathematical theory relating the length and duration of a step to anatomical parameters." (D.S.B. 14: 206). In the present dissertation, a quantitative study of the electrical resistance of the human body, Eduard Weber utilized instrumentation his brother had worked on at Göttingen. Logically there are a number of references to the work of Gauss. In 1846, Eduard Weber contributed 'Muskelbewegung' to Rudolph Wagner's 'Handbuch der physiologie'. Wheeler Gift Cat. 914.
