Collins who came to the colony from County Cork, Ireland in 1839. The book inlcudes pastoral pursuits (sheep and cattle), goldfields, cotton and sugar, the beginnings of Southport and Beenleigh. Collins spent time in Brisbane, north Queensland and the west and there is quite a deal of information on aborigines, travelling in Qld at the time, floods and more. Much of the book deals with the period he owned and developed Mundoolun Station, at the time about 50 miles from Brisbane, 10 miles from Canungra and 2 miles from Bromfleet Railway Station.
