Official Pilot's Log Book issued for civilian pilots. Original blue cloth titled on front cover in black, good condition, rear pocket containing a portrait of the pilot by Jerome and his post-war National Registration Identity Card. The book shows the traiing of George Henry Ellis Kingcome of Kelvinside, Glasgow and covers the period from 22nd April to 13th June 1939. The planes flown are DH Moth, B2, Hornet M2, Hart, Audax, Aero Tutor, DH60, Drone, DH82a.Kingcome is shown as working for the Blackburn Aircraft Co of Brough East Yorkshire. although the early part of his training was with civilian pilots from November 1936 they are almost all RAF pilots - F/Os Foster,Judge, Nicholl; Flt Lts Luton, French, Webb, Earl of Bandon; S/Ldr Bowen Buscarlet; Sgts King, Arnold, Gregory. On 4th February 1936 Kingcome is shown in the London Gazette as being commissioned in the RAF as an Acting Pilot Officer on probation. Preseumably at the beginning of the war he was on active service and using a standard RAF log book. One of his instructors, the Earl of Bandon, went on to have a distinguidhes RAF career winning three mentions in despatches, a US DFC and ending the war as Air Vice Marshal commading in Burma.
