The paper opens with reports from Rear Admiral Austen on board "Rattler" on the successful combined military and naval operation which led to the capture of Martaban and Rangoon on the 5th & 14th April 1852. Other victories, such as the capture of Bassein, are reported and there is a long minute from the Governor General of India, Lord Dalhousie, explaining the lead up to the war and its prosecution to the Secret Committee of the House. Other contributors include: Commodore Lambert ("Fox"), Lt-Gen H Godwin (commanding), C Allen (Sec to Govt of India), Capt W Mayhew (AAG, Burmah Field Force), Maj H Votton (67th Bengal NI), Sir Frederic Currie, Commodore Tarleton, Sir John Littler.
