Título: A New Map of the County of Stafford, Divided...
Editorial: Wm Darton, London
Año de publicación: 1818
Encuadernación: Hard Backed Slipcase
An engraved, hand coloured folding map, dissected, linen-backed on a scale of approximately 2.5miles to 1 inch, unfolding to a size of 16 x 20 ins. It folds down to a size of 4 x 6.75ins and fits into its original slip case with marbled paper covered boards with original printed label which also bears a stamp "Plas Newydd" and the signature in ink "Uxbridge". Charles Paget, Earl of Uxbridge [later 1st Marquess of Anglesey ] commanded the cavalry at Waterloo where he famously lost a leg. This could be his signature [although technically he would have signed himself Anglesey after 1815] or his son Henry, who was born in 1797 and succeded his father as Marquess in 1854. Also signed Uxbridge on the linen. The case is rather rubbed but these maps are seldom found with an original case. Size: 16 x 20ins [40 x 52cm] Unfolded. N° de ref. de la librería 008097
