Large book measuring 13.50" x 10.50". Binding cloth is a kimono-silk floral pattern (gilt on green, in a color the Japanese call 'young grass'). The label is made of cherrywood shavings and features the word "Ikebana" in calligraphy, and the encircling band is a handmade hand-crumpled Japanese paper called Kozo-Momigami, derived from Mulberry. Decorated endpapers depicting Cherry-Blossom Viewing, a detail from a hand-scroll illustrating the Nezame Monogatari, one of the most popular of the early courtly romances. 272 pp., with many drawings as well as tipped-in full-color illustrations. Silk covered boards protected by thick-transparent mylar. With lessons by the masters of Japan's three foremost schools: 1) Sen'Ei Ikenobo, XLVth Headmaster, Ikenobo School, Kyoto; 2) Houn Ohara, IIIrd Headmaster, Ohara School, Osaka; 3) Sofu Teshigahara, Founder, Sogetsu School, Tokyo.
