Original mustard/black cloth with decorative front board and spine. Boards are slightly soiled, showing light wear at corners and top/bottom of spine, internally lightly age toned, else a very good copy of a title usually found in poor condition. The author served as the field secretary of the US Christian Commission and provides one of the few works that not only recorded the work of the commision, but also many anecdotes collected dluring the Civil War for which this is the only source.
