Original Art Deco gold/black patterned boards with a slightly sunned beige cloth spine and a paper title label which has some loss to the edges of the label - but the lettering is all present and clear. The corners and very edges of the boards are rubbed - in places through to the board. Internally the lightest of foxing to e/p's and fore edges otherwise NO INSCRIPTIONS or marks and this is a Very Clean, Tight and Bright copy. The book is protected by a clear removable book plastic cover. (xiv) + 126 pp + Black and white frontispiece by Max Beerbohm, and 20 plates together with some illustrations at the end of each chapter. "Lynch traces the art of caricature from ancient Egypt to the present, with notes on prominent caricaturists and their influence. Contents include early secular caricature; the caricature of bigotry; 18th century England; continental caricature; Max Beerbohm; 'England and America today' with Bibliography and Index. The illustrations at the rear of the volume include 16th Century and earlier works. Also works by Leonardo da Vinci, William Nicholson, Daumier, Edmund Dulac, Ralph Barton, Evans Powys (Quiz) and others. Images available on request. ; Small 4to 9" - 11" tall.
