Editorial: D. & J. Sadlier & Co., New York:
Año de publicación: 1868
Hinges have been professionally reinforced (essential in a book this massive), light shelf wear, and minor, short cracks at top and bottom of joints. Spine gilt is faded. Except as noted, this is an incredibly beautiful book in Very Good or better condition. Frontis. engraved portrait of Rev. Luke Wadding, Color lithographic title page in the first volume. Frontis. and engraved title page in the second volume. Full-page plates throughout the book. Each of the pages has all borders decorated with illustrations. (Note, on the title page to the first volume, the author's name is spelled Mac-Goeghegan). All edges are gilt. 630 and 640 pages. Unusual and magnificent binding. Full, black leather, with deep embossed sections on both front and back covers, stamped with gilt decorations and a center "cameo" type oval section with illustration in gilt and banner stating, "Catholic Emancipation". Spine is gilt decorated and titled. Only copyright date is stated (1868), so presumably a first edition. N° de ref. de la librería 10448
