SIXTH EDITION, 1928. 8vo., pp. xix, 1-383 plus Sanskrit index and general index. Orginal dark green cloth nicely blocked on the front cover sound/VG. some clight foxing to the preliminary and end pages o/w interior clean/VG. Previous owner's inscription on the front free endpaper. The main title hardly does justice to this fine work of exposition of Hindu myths and religion. It is a great reference work on the history of the Aryan immigrants to the banks of the Indus and highlights the agrarian background of these settlers. Their ancient myths were directly connected to the elements that affected their lives and to those elements they assigned devine influences. Their most ancient hymns of the Rig-veda have in fact provided a means of unfolding the real source and significance of several Greek and Zoroastrian myths and some of the more obvious identifications are mentioned when appropriate. Even though it is printed in dictionary form this is a book full of charming and fascinating interest. N° de ref. de la librería 10582

Descripción de la librería: We specialise in travel, adventure and exploration books published between about 1900 and 1960, loosely referred to as post-imperialist travel writing. Although most books are the first-hand experiences of their authors, we have included books of general interest about a particular area or incident and autobiographies and biographies by and of famous travellers or adventurers. You will also find some books we consider of particular merit outside our somewhat arbitrary date range. Mark Culme-Seymour Proprietor
