Folding map with some colour, illustrations in text, xxiii, 271pp + a further 19pp [numbered 273-292] of manuscript text, the a neat, tiny copperplate hand of Dr Charles Francis Bell commenting mainly on churches and paintings in an academic and informed manner, addiing dates of his visits etc. Bound in a smart contemporary genrous half marron leather gilt by the Clarendon Press, Oxford, all edges gilt, very minor rubbing at extremities, internally clean, bookplate Charles Francis Bell to fornt pastedown with manuscript addition in his hand "Palermo, MArch 1927".
