Editorial: Brockhampton Press, Leicester, n.d.
Año de publicación: 1949
Edición: 1st Edition
16mo., First [Sole?] Edition, with a coloured illustrated title, 9 full-page coloured illustrations, numerous monochrome illustrations (many full-page) in the text and pictorial endpapers; original pictorial boards, very neatly rebacked in blue paper to style, a near fine copy. A fine example of Soper's long-term collaboration with Blyton (she illustrated some thirty-five Blyton titles in all). Eileen Alice Soper (1905-1990) was born in Enfield but lived the great majority of her life at Harner Green near Welwyn in Hertfordshire. The daughter of illustrator George Soper, she was only fifteen when her work was first accepted by the Royal Academy. She specialised primarily in animals and children, and was a founder member of the Society of Wildlife Artists. Soper was elected to the Royal Society of Miniature Painters in 1972. See Horne, p. 395. A rare survival in this condition. N° de ref. de la librería 7035
